What is happiness | By Buddhism Thoughts | Heal Your Mind

Posted on July 23, 2022

Happiness is an amazing feeling that we naturally want to continue experiencing. It can be either physical, like seeing something or someone; or mental—like thinking about life’s little joys and pleasures in your mind. It’s a mental state that can be defined by different emotions such as joy and contentment- which are feelings we often associate with being happy!

We all want to be happy, but we often confuse pleasure with happiness. We think that if we eat nice food, wear expensive clothes, and have fun every day, our lives will suddenly turn into joyous occasions. But somehow this just doesn’t seem possible for us- no matter how hard or long you try there’s always something holding back any sense of fulfillment within yourself Is it because being concerned only about ourselves leads towards loneliness?

Sometimes we are not willing to be alone with our feelings and emotions, we find diversion in games, sex and careers. But it doesn`t provide happiness or never really connect us to others.

We always want to feel happy and connected with others, so we turn on social media. It gives us a short-lived rush of pleasure from the likes or messages that come in, but it just leads to wanting more affirmations about how great life is for us – which quickly turns into checking our phones constantly while waiting anxiously at home (or wherever) as soon someone posts something new!

True happiness comes from cherishing the well-being of others; when you care deeply for their happiness then your heart feels the wamth towards them which in turn allows open connection. This creates pattern in our brain to help others and make meaningful relations friendships which leads to emotional support and can find strength to deal with obstacles.

The happiness of others is linked to our own. It’s very true that the change begins from your own self. If you are sad, you have the ability to create nuisance around you and on the contrary if you are happy you can make the world a better place.

If you crib for happiness, you will end up cribbing in the pursuit of happiness. The feeling of contentment is where it all starts.

We live with an overwhelming sense of helplessness because we feel like whatever happens there is no control over how things will turn out but actually this isn’t true anymore you can make a difference by thinking of others’ welfare and trying to help them.  A feeling of self-worth is required and the easiest way to experience that to give others, and by giving you can experience the immense feeling of self-worth in turn happiness.

The true connection we have with others is when our thoughts are focused on how to help them, not just in words but through genuine actions that show concern. This brings joy and contentment because it makes people feel good about themselves without expecting anything back.

We need to cultivate kindness, concern and compassion for others in order to live a happy life because human beings are social animals who can only develop strongly when connected with others.
